All research is charged at an hourly or daily basis.  Standard fees are £30 per hour.  Charges are for:

(1) Time carrying out research, communication with clients and writing reports etc.

(2) Travels expenses, archive photograph licenses, postage, photocopying and for microfilm printouts.

A written estimate and pre-research report outlining the aims and timescale of the research, will be provided in advance, and if you agree with it, I will then commence research.  However, historical research is not an exact science and sometimes it can take longer than first envisioned.  If any research takes longer than expected, the extra time and charges will be pre agreed with the client if and where applicable.

There will be no charges for initial consolation, and for travel time for less than 1 hour from my location. 

There is a minimum charge for two hours work for archival research.

The standard hourly rate does not include charges for archive photography permits, photocopying, microfilm print outs and postage.  These will be charged additionally. 

Any discussion of the project, and subsequent quotes, before the project commence, will be free of charge. 

Payment methods accepted include bank transfer and cheque.  PayPal is also accepted as a payment method, but there is additional charge of 5% to cover the PayPal administration fee.
